THE OPPORTUNITY
Bereskin & Parr is one of Canada's largest and most respected intellectual property ("IP") law firms.
There is an immediate opportunity for a Canadian Trademark Clerk on our team to work out of our Toronto office.
This position provides assistance to the Trademark group.Your responsibilities will include:
- Sending reminders to clients using precedents regarding upcoming renewals in their Canadian trademark portfolios.
- Reviewing goods and services using various sources and tools to determine how to classify them to be in compliance with government rules and regulations.
- Paying renewalrelated fees.
- Filing classification requests.
- Reporting and responding to Nice classrelated Examiner's reports.
- Proofreading confirmations for accuracy and reporting to clients using precedents.
- Updating internal docketing system and document management system.
- Entering time and issuing invoices to clients.
What you'll bring to B&P:
- Legal Assistant Diploma/Certificate or Law Clerk Degree.
- Minimum one year of relevant working experience. Canadian trademark experience preferred.
- High interpersonal and teamoriented skills.
- Ability to work independently, problem solve, and be resourceful.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Computer literate with strong working knowledge of Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with document management systems is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
