THE OPPORTUNITY
Bereskin & Parr is one of Canada's largest and most respected intellectual property ("IP") law firms.

There is an immediate opportunity for a Canadian Trademark Clerk on our team to work out of our Toronto office.

This position provides assistance to the Trademark group.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Sending reminders to clients using precedents regarding upcoming renewals in their Canadian trademark portfolios.
  • Reviewing goods and services using various sources and tools to determine how to classify them to be in compliance with government rules and regulations.
  • Paying renewalrelated fees.
  • Filing classification requests.
  • Reporting and responding to Nice classrelated Examiner's reports.
  • Proofreading confirmations for accuracy and reporting to clients using precedents.
  • Updating internal docketing system and document management system.
  • Entering time and issuing invoices to clients.

What you'll bring to B&P:


  • Legal Assistant Diploma/Certificate or Law Clerk Degree.
  • Minimum one year of relevant working experience. Canadian trademark experience preferred.
  • High interpersonal and teamoriented skills.
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, and be resourceful.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Computer literate with strong working knowledge of Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with document management systems is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
