Essential Functions:


  • Conduct work in a manner prescribed by Strathcona's Environmental Health and Safety Work Practices.
  • Identify and assess opportunities to improve safety, reliability, and maintenance costs.
  • Troubleshooting and repairs to facility and field instrumentation and electrical equipment systems (as to restricted electrical license if not a certified journeyperson electrician as second trade) to support production in Conventional Heavy operations.
  • Execution of instrumentation and electrical PM work orders.
  • Repairs/calibration of instrumentation, electrical, and measurement devices.
  • Record and report equipment problems/calibrations and repair records.
  • Support in instrumentation and electrical construction tasks.
  • Use Asset Management system to track work orders, parts necessary to make repairs, improve information and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Instrumentation activities ranging from AB PLC and programming, SCADA, communications, device calibrations, measurement, and process troubleshooting.
  • Respond to after hour's maintenance/troubleshooting calls as required.

Qualifications Include:


  • Journeyperson Interprovincial Instrumentation Certificate. Completion of Instrumentation Engineering technology diploma or second trade Journeyman Electrician would be a valuable asset.
  • 8 years or greater experience in the oil and gas industry or other industrial maintenance experience.
  • AB PLC hardware and software maintenance experience.
  • AB PLC programming experience to support small projects and MOC requirements.
  • Red Seal Certification.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communications skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to interact and supervise contract support staff.
  • Measurement standards understanding (Directive 17, EPAP and MARP).
  • Electrical standards understanding (CEC).
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license.
