    Strathcona Resources Ltd. ("Strathcona") is a Calgary, Alberta based oil and gas production and development company focused on maximizing oil and gas recovery from its low decline, high free cash flow oil and gas resource base.     We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Data Technologist to join our Business Development Geosciences Team. Reporting to the Team Lead, Business Development Geosciences, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting data optimization for Geoscience projects at Strathcona Resources. We are seeking someone looking for a challenge and who gets excited about the prospect of collaborating with talented people across our diverse asset teams.

    Responsibilities:

  • Creating, maintaining, and updating projects
  • Administer and support GIS and Geoscience projects including but not limited to Geographix, ArcGIS, QGIS, geoSCOUT, Petrel, Petro Ninja, and EVA Georeferencing images, digitizing contour maps and associated files Shapefile manipulations and metadata extraction
  • Organize a central location for current datasets to easily be accessible by other business units
  • Clean project data and improve integration across applications.
  • Contribute knowledge to ongoing data management and data science initiatives.
  • Work with the asset team Geotechs to make better use of vendor data, as well as our own data, in their workflows.
  • Analyze current workflows to identify opportunities to increase efficiency through automation.
  • Highlight work already being done by our data analytics team and how it can be optimally employed by the Business Development team.

    • Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience with technical diploma.
  • Knowledge of oil & gas industry in areas of resource development, drilling & completions, machine learning techniques, databases and associated structures.
  • Knowledge of geology, mapping, cross sections and Python considered an asset.
  • Skills - team player, developing and giving presentations, and a strong communicator.
  • Ability to adapt, be professional, be self-motivated, learn quickly, change pace as required to complete both detailed work and meet practical deadlines, manage confidential information, problem solve, think critically, prioritize business needs.
  • Software: MS Office, geoSCOUT, Petrel, Geographix, Surfer, ArcGIS, QGIS, EVA, Spotfire, and Tableau
