The Police Support Services at the RCMP Detachment requires auxiliary Crisis Intervention Workers. You will provide immediate crisis intervention assistance to victims, their families, and/or witnesses of trauma and/or crime. This includes cases such as sudden deaths, suicides, family disputes, domestic assaults, and assistance with next-of-kin notifications.

You will also provide resources, community referrals, emotional support, files updates, and information on the criminal justice system to clients.


Services are provided within the geographical area of North Vancouver and the auxiliary coverage required is the evening and overnight period during the week, and for a 24 hour period on weekends, which includes a 4 hour shift in the office.

Crisis intervention assistance may be provided at scenes of incidents where violence, serious injury or death may have occurred immediately prior to your arrival.


You have a university degree in Criminology, Social Work or Psychology as well as training and experience in crisis intervention and victim support services, and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


Additional requirements include:

  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  • Your own reliable transportation for which remuneration will be provided.
  • A declaration being free of conflicts of interest with other activities outside of crisis intervention employment (e.g. activities involving an overlap of client groups, working with offenders while working with victims of crime, etc.).
You will also be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.


Salary:

$39.14 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
(Pay Grade 2- January 2024 rates)
