Description

This is an Initiatives/Opportunities bargaining unit employee position. This position will start in June 2023 and end in June 2026.

Working 35 hours per week at an hourly rate of $26.47, they will be reporting to the Manager, Partnership, Strategic Initiatives & Communication.

Specific Accountabilities:

Create graphics and publications to promote research by incorporating original text and graphic elements.
Develop branding for new initiatives external to the College
Provide concept development and design of promotional materials including, but not limited to annual report, promotional products, social media posts, advertisements.
Together with the Outreach and Communication team, brainstorm and conceptualize ideas that offer strategic design solutions which meet project criteria.
Provide oversight and maintenance of the college and department brand and visual identity for all research material.
Ensure consistency and continuity across all subbrands and endorsed brands
Regularly assess branding guides
Responsible for videoing and photography to support promotional items
Support in the design of new websites external to the College
Maintain website content on external websites external to the College
Create images for External websites
Train other contributors on how to use the software to update external website
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

2 year postsecondary diploma in Graphic Design OR Office Administration
Minimum of 2 years experience in research promotional document development
At least two years experience in the areas of graphic design and brand management.
Expert knowledge of communications and graphic software, including: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office
Knowledgeable of the requirements from research funders
Understands targeted audience of document and appropriate design
Knowledgeable of Intellectual Property guidelines
Extensive practical experience in graphic design and communications
Excellent communication, both verbal and written, interpersonal and human relation skills
Strong time management skills showing the ability to multitask and balance multiple priorities
Ability to successfully manage shifting priorities and multiple projects, while maintaining strong attention to detail and consistency
Deadline oriented and results driven
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to maintain strong and positive working relationships
A solid team member with a commitment to providing innovative solutions and quality customer service A keen eye for visual composition and detail
