Location:
These positions have the possibility of being based at Regina Head Office and Saskatoon Property Claims (depending on desk availability at those sites).

These roles offer hybrid work options - giving you the flexibility to work from home and from the offices mentioned above, following a set rotation schedule once probation requirements are fulfilled.

Until then, the successful candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Underwriter I (Commercial Property) is in charge of evaluating moderately intricate insurance risks. This role involves assessing, rating, and handling insurance requests for Commercial Auto, Commercial Property, or Farm insurance products. Decision-making in underwriting is guided by manuals/guidelines, predetermined processes, and levels of authority. The Underwriter I has a customer-centric approach and actively seeks ways to enhance the customer experience. Building and maintaining relationships with brokers is a key task for the Underwriter I, contributing to sustainable and profitable partnerships. Additionally, the Underwriter I is responsible for reviewing and approving the work of junior staff members.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Underwriting Operations Researches and gathers additional information on risks as needed.- Makes prompt decisions taking into account risk factors, underwriting guidelines, and market conditions. Determines the acceptability of risks, whether modifications are required, or if they should be rejected based on a comprehensive analysis of all relevant risk information within the underwriter's authority. Communicates with brokers to request information and clarify underwriting requirements and decisions.- Provides support, guidance, and approval for the work of junior staff members (including trainees).- Acquires and applies knowledge of policy terms, conditions, limitations, rates, and premiums with a strong focus on customer requirements.- Develops a basic understanding of current and emerging industry trends and market conditions.- Identifies opportunities for enhancing processes and procedures.


Broker Experience and Relationship Management- Serves as the first point of contact for brokers, seeing requests through to completion and establishing trust as a valuable advisor for brokers.- Cultivates and nurtures professional relationships with brokers to attract profitable business and assist in resolving service issues.- Identifies ways to enhance the broker experience and works towards finding solutions while complying with company guidelines and underwriting authority.- Explains underwriting criteria and decisions to brokers.- Collaborates with other departments to ensure a consistent experience for brokers and customers.- Assists in training staff, brokers, and external parties on products and procedures.

May be required to deliver formal presentations.- Familiarity with the underwriting operating system, workflows, broker portal, billing procedures, and promoting supplementary products to brokers with a focus on meeting customer needs.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS- Thorough understanding of operations and related assets within the relevant business area (Commercial Auto, Commercial Property, or Farm).- Proficient knowledge of insurance product coverages and applicable provincial/federal legislation for the relevant business area (Commercial Auto, Commercial Property, or Farm).- Familiarity with Insurance Principles & Practices and fundamental reinsurance principles.


EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS- Completion of a two-year diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a relevant field of study, such as Business, or equivalent qualifications.

EXPERIENCE: Years of experience in the field of underwriting.

Compensation Range:
$59, $75,684.00
