Summary/Objective

The Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role within our Montreal-based team, overseeing the accounting and finances for three of our Brands (Preston Phipps, Inter-Power Group and Armserv).

The Accounting Manager will act as the finance business partner to the Brand Leaders and play a key role in the FP&A function.

Main responsibilities will be; managing the accounting teams of the Brands, optimization of the accounting ERP system, reviewing and overseeing the monthly close process, analyzing monthly results and providing financial support and guidance to Brand leaders.

The Accounting Manager is highly organized, analytical, with strong attention to detail, and integral to the success of the Finance and Accounting department.

The Accounting Manager is a critical thinker, able to work both independently and as part of a team supporting all operational aspects of the Brands and is not shy to jump in and get their hands dirty to ensure the success of the team they are managing.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the accounting function
  • Provide financial support to the Brand Leaders, sales teams and operations
  • Assist staff and other departments with accounting questions and issues
  • Manage and coach a diverse team of accountants, accounting technicians and A/P & A/R positions
  • Find efficiencies by realigning roles/positions and optimizing a modern ERP
  • Ensure internal controls are implemented and followed
  • Play a key role in the review and approval process of general ledgers, subledgers and supporting schedules
  • Coordinate and supervise the month end close process
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and play a key role in financial planning and analysis
  • Work with the leadership teams by analyzing, reporting and dashboarding results to promote sound financial decision making
  • Support the annual budget and monthly forecast process
  • Participate in the annual audit process
  • Assist with special reporting and analysis projects
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA preferred or similar designation
  • 35 years accounting experience in a manager position
  • Experience working in organizations of various size
Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual (English/French)
  • Skilled and proficient with Microsoft Excel; experience in Epicor Profit 21 is a plus.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and procedures
  • Able to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks and cope with shifting demands
  • Fundamental knowledge with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.
