We are seeking two experienced Career Advisors to provide career counselling and occupational exploration, and teach tactical work search skills and employment related competencies.

Our newest youth employment service will engage at-risk young people through a multi-dimensional program that includes skill development, employment preparation, and connection to jobs.

As a Career Advisor, you will be committed to the success of each youth and will utilize a strength based, trauma informed, and youth centric approach to create an inclusive, supportive, and positive experience for all.

What will you do?


As a Career Advisor, you will help youth learn about the labour market, set job goals, and facilitate activities that will support their development and successfully transition to the workforce.

This will

include 1:1 and group-based workshops and activities.


As a highly collaborative individual with exceptional communication and career development skills you will provide career exploration and coaching based on the unique needs, circumstances, and goals of each young person.

You will customize your approach and employ positive youth practices to engage, motivate, and propel youth along their career journey.


As a compassionate problem-solver you will strategize through difficult situations with perseverance and tenacity recognizing the non-linear pathway that many youth experience with employment.

You will engage with team members and other community support to provide a comprehensive and robust level of service that many at-risk youth require to realize success.

This may include helping youth develop positive workplace behaviour and providing retention support for youth after they get a job.


This project is highly flexible and will be delivered at our location, in the community and, in some cases, virtually.

You will be responsive to individual situations and will employ a flexible working model that will include some weekend and evening programming.


What does it take to do this job?

  • Postsecondary education in a relevant program. A Career Development professional designation is an asset
  • 2+ years working with youth and experience utilizing a strength based, trauma informed approach
  • Experience in preemployment and essential skill development knowledge, such as: job search techniques to tap into the hidden job market; resume and cover letter development; and interviewing skills and techniques to prepare clients
  • Experience developing and delivering career related workshops
  • Innovative with the ability to take initiative
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with Sales Force is an asset
  • Professional, driven, charismatic, reliable, and confident individual who thrives under pressure
