Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our nextFunding & Grant Development Specialist
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
Application Planning and Development
- Work with the Project Lead and Operations Manager to create, review, and troubleshoot project budgets, including personnel costs, equipment, external contractors and other costs.
- Research and learn new technical topics to effectively contribute to technical writing and reviewing.
- Review partner organization (external organizations who are effectively clients) details, goals, gaps, and their sector and clients. Prepare questions for partners, and draft details that accurately reflect their organization, team, planned project work and benefits.
- Support identifying internal approvals required, help technical teams prepare approval materials, and communicating with internal stakeholders to secure appropriate approvals.
- Ensure that relevant documents are provided to key stakeholders.
- Coordinate team meetings as necessary.
- Ensure that sensitive Mohawk College and external partner information is kept confidential and stored in a secured environment.
Project and Initiative Planning and Development Support
- Provide feedback on draft project documentation for funding eligibility.
- Prepare initial documentation for initial internal review and when appropriate funder review and feedback.
Funding Opportunity Identification and Development
- Seek out funding for specific projects, partners, and initiatives.
- Search and review general funding opportunities on a regular basis and consider current and future opportunities.
- Carefully review funding program and funder strategy changes.
- Thoroughly review funding program eligibility, limits, rules, and guidelines to understand potential fits and limitations.
- Maintain a list of funding programs and proposals.
- Help to prioritize funding opportunities.
- Support preparing outreach strategies for promoting funding opportunities to internal audiences (primarily); external organizations (active partners and prospective partners) including forprofit, notforprofit, healthcare, and others; and other postsecondary institutions.
- Support meeting with technical teams, faculty, staff and other internal people interested in funding, and support considering which programs could best fit their projects.
- Assist with communicating with funding agency representatives to obtain information on active and upcoming programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant must have:
- A 2year diploma in a related discipline such as Business Administration and Management, Marketing, Business Communications, Finance, or a related field.
- Interest and ability to learn and write about technical work, challenges, and the related business opportunities.
- The ability to seek and assess funding opportunities, make recommendations regarding funding 'fit' with teams and their applied research projects.
- Project management and/or coordination skills and the ability to support key administrative processes to support multiple competing and high priority proposals simultaneously moving forward through to completion while meeting strict funding agency deadlines.
- Experience working in a teamoriented, collaborative environment.
- Budget preparation and financial administration.
- Project management with facilitation and presentation skills.
- Stakeholder relationship management.
- Needs analysis.
- Risk management.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively interculturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
