Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic entrepreneurially spirited individual to join the leadership team for the new Feed Halton Distribution Centre in Burlington, Ontario.


Feed Halton is a brand-new initiative of Burlington Food Bank that is anticipated to revolutionize the food security industry Halton Region wide, by becoming a distribution hub supporting the needs of agencies and by extension individuals.

The

Director of Operations will play an integral role in envisioning, planning, implementing, and managing strategic direction for resource development and utilization that enables Feed Halton to deliver on its mission.

You will work in collaboration with and will report to the Executive Director of
Burlington Food Bank as well as the Board of Directors of Feed Halton.


Key Accountabilities
1.


Leadership and Volunteer Management:
Provides leadership and direction to all facets of the BFB operations.

  • Supervise, develop, and mentor BFB volunteers, corporate groups, summer students and their teams, including orientation and training.
  • Develop, implement and monitor adherence to best practices with special attention to food and worker safety.

Health and Safety:
Develops a comprehensive Health and Safety program for BFB.

  • Oversee the implementation and development of training for all staff and volunteers within the shipping, receiving, sortation and all other facets of the warehouse and the operation of onroad vehicles.
  • Ensure the safe operation, maintenance, and licensing of all equipment, vehicles, and authorized operators.
  • Establish and monitor routine maintenance and inspection procedures for all equipment.

Teamwork.
Develop a supportive and inclusive working environment to foster an efficient, effective, and respectful workplace by:


  • Managing, supporting, training, and motivating volunteers.
  • Implement programs and activities to recognize the efforts and contributions of staff and volunteers including corporate volunteers.
  • Work in collaboration with BFB management and staff and seek advice and guidance from Human Resource heads at Halton Region Food Security Sector

Relationships.

Maintain active, professional, and cordial relationships with stakeholders by:


  • Working with all volunteers, corporate groups and summer students to foster a positive culture of service.
  • Manage, cultivate, and build relationships with all stakeholders, including agencies, community and neighbours.
  • Working closely with community engagement and agency relations purchasing food and related product keeping within the organizations purchasing budget.
  • Ensuring regular effective communication with all agencies in the Food Security sector in Halton Region.
5.
Strategic Leadership.

Actively supports the overall strategic direction of the BFB organization, by:


  • Participating in strategic development activities.
  • Keenly taking part in the regular meetings and activities of the organization's senior management team.
  • Participate in the development of an annual BFB work plan and its implementation.
9.
Events and activities. Supports other organizational events and activities as required. This means some evenings and weekends.

10.
Other duties as assigned.

$50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
