- A key member of the mechanical design team responsible for design and construction administration of various facilities
- Provide conceptual design at the early stages of the project and develop the concept to high-quality detailed design
- Co-ordinate with all disciplines
- Design HVAC, Controls, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems
- Perform HVAC calculations and analysis using industry programs (Carrier HAP)
- Perform calculations, conduct design drawing reviews, and field investigations

Senior Mechanical Engineer
AECOM Buildings + Places Architectural team is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position is based out of our Markham, ON office but we are open to work on a hybrid-basis. AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building's engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an Industrial engineer who knows buildings (HVAC) but who also has experience with hydraulics, lifts and other industrial elements to work on Operations, Maintenance, and Storage facility projects, especially bus garages (and more)
Major Responsibilities:
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent + six (6) years of experience in the mechanical design of various buildings, including OMS facilities such as bus garages. Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
Preferred Requirements: 15+ years of experience in the mechanical design of various buildings, including OMSF buildings such as bus garages. In-depth knowledge of HVAC and hydronic systems, and controls. Design knowledge in Plumbing and Fire Protection systems. Strong Consulting Industry background in Canada. Experience in LEED/Net Zero design preferred. Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment. Very strong communication skills, spoken and written; good presentation skills. Must be able to prepare written reports and deliver results in a clear manner to technical or non-technical audience. Able to work independently or as part of a team.
Additional Information
Relocation is not available for this position. Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position. Travel to construction sites to conduct mechanical inspections and prepare reports is required. Some out-of-town travel expected.
