About Us:

The Department of Community and Social Services leads income, employment, disabilities and community-based supports, family violence prevention, and family & community support services


The Delivery Services Division is working to help better connect Albertans to programs and services and to ensure Albertans have access to the right services at the right time through a common front-end experience whether through our contact centers or in-person offices.


  • The Common Service Delivery (CSD) branch holds expertise in delivery of centralized, citizen centered services, including contact center and benefit administration services. Common Service Delivery (CSD) delivers centralized services on behalf of other program areas within Community and Social Services as well as other Ministries across the Government of Alberta.


The Alberta Adult Health Benefit program covers health benefits for Albertans in low-income households who are pregnant or have high ongoing prescription drug needs.

This health plan includes children who are 18 or 19 years old if they are living at home and attending high school.

The Alberta Child Health Benefit covers health benefits for children in low-income households. This health plan is for children up to 18 years of age.

Children who are 18 or 19 years old also qualify, if they are living at home and attending high school.


Funeral benefits may be available to help pay for burial or cremation and funeral arrangements for deceased Albertans who were receiving assistance through the Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) program and Income Support program.

Funeral benefits may also be available for deceased Albertans with low income.


The Residential Tenancies (Safer Spaces for Victims of Domestic Violence) Act allows for victims of family violence to end a residential tenancy agreement without financial penalty.

To do this, tenants must get a Certificate Confirming Grounds to Terminate Tenancy, and use it to give at least 28 days' notice to their landlord.

The tenant is still required to pay rent during the notice period.


Role:

You will also be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

  • Determine eligibility according to program legislation and administrative procedures.
  • Perform income/medical review requests as required.
  • Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to: Service Alberta, Alberta Health, Alberta Blue Cross, Alberta Dental Services, Community and Social Services, Labour and Immigration
  • Conduct research and collect applicable documentation from clients and/or stakeholders to ensure client eligibility.
  • Primary link between delivery sites and thirdparty medical consultant regarding Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) requests for AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped) and Income Support (IS) programs.
  • Primary link between delivery sites and clients regarding Health Benefit Exception Committee requests for Alberta Health Benefits, AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped), and Income Support (IS) programs.
  • Primary link between applicants, social workers, occupational therapists, physicians, and home modification service providers.
  • Primary link between Health Benefit clients, health service providers, and health/dental vendors.
  • Primary link between applicants who are victims of abuse and emergency protection and shelter service providers.

Qualifications:

High school diploma and four years of related experience


Equivalency:

Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.


Knowledge required for the position:

  • Possess indepth knowledge of all applicable legislation, regulations, policies, criteria, guidelines, processes and procedures for client funding and to determine eligibility and calculate assessments.
  • Excellent, accurate, articulate and concise verbal, writing, and mathematical abilities.
  • Analytical, research, and decisionmaking skills, including ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Organizational and time management skills, including ability to function effectively in a high volume work environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage stress and difficult situations.
  • Confidence and ability to efficiently and effectively diffuse hostility and resolve conflicts.
