Full-Time Permanent Maintenance Helper to work at our locations in the Edmonton Zone.

The primary objective of the Maintenance Worker is to ensure assigned building(s) or complex of buildings are being managed and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and to the highest level of operational efficiency.


Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the Maintenance Helper position is responsible for overall building maintenance, operation, repairs, installations and support for all building systems and operations.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Minor drywall repairs & painting.
  • Perform basic maintenance for HVAC systems/electrical/plumbing.
  • Pressure washing as required.
  • Maintaining the grounds, facility and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with government standards.
  • Working to problem solve, plan, organize, communicate and cooperate with other staff members to ensure that tasks are completed.
  • Assisting with resident move ins/outs and performing necessary repairs for suite turnovers.
  • Keeping accurate maintenance records of work done.
  • Other duties to be assigned as required.
  • Do basic carpentry projects

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work with a team and follow direction
  • Possess a keen ability to recognize problems, and create an effective course of action to solve the issue.
  • Excellent customer service and relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Selfdirected with the ability to effectively manage your time and resources to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision.
  • Must possess a moderate degree of flexibility and tolerance to adjust to changes in workloads, assignments and days (eg. occasional weekends, evenings etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, as needed.
  • Awareness of accident and injury prevention, hazard identification and control; adherence to safe work practices and procedures is essential in this position.
  • Must possess a valid provincial driver's license and have a reliable vehicle. Mileage will be paid for travel between sites.

Bona-Fide Occupational Requirements

  • Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position (may be required to lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds)
  • Ability to work on his/her feet for a complete shift while constantly bending, stretching, walking, lifting, or moving things.
  • Be able to safely work from a ladder.
  • A current and clear Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
