About the Role:

Global News has an exciting opportunity for a full-time radio news anchor to join our team.

This position reports to the Manager, News and Content and is a group Radio position in the current collective agreement.


You'll be working on things like:

  • Accurately and clearly delivering news, weather and sports content on-air, primarily in the mornings
  • Ensuring newscasts have uptodate information and relay the most important stories to our listeners
  • Writing and producing content with multiple deadlines for radio, television and online
  • Conducting interviews and sharing audio with other platforms
  • Communicating story ideas and information with colleagues on all platforms
  • Developing and maintaining news contacts for interviews and information
  • Understanding and adhering to Global News' Journalistic Principles and Practices
  • Embracing and demonstrating Corus' five values
  • Performing other duties as required
If you have the want to hear from you

  • Strong news reading and writing skills and good news judgment
  • Ability to work independently, be accountable to the team and have a positive, cando attitude
  • Available to work weekdays, evenings, early mornings, and weekends
  • Diploma/Degree in Journalism/Broadcasting or equivalent experience
  • Strong storytelling skills, with an understanding of how to write for different platforms
  • Initiative to contact colleagues to offer help when time allows
  • Ability to meet strict short deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Passion for broadcast and online journalism and Canadian affairs. You wake up in the middle of the night with good ideas.
  • Motivated, selfstarter, independent, resultsoriented and professional.
