This is an exciting opportunity to join the Quark team as a Charter and Group Sales Manager, reporting to the Vice President of Sales.

Quark Expeditions, the leader in Polar adventure travel, is looking for a tenured, dynamic, travel industry professional, with experience working with MICE and cruise charter sales to lead profitable sales growth of Quark's global charter sales.


Quark is part of the Travelopia group which is one of the world's leading specialist travel groups providing customers with a diverse range of unique travel experiences.

This includes adventure travel, safaris, private jet and polar expeditions, tailor-made luxury holidays, yacht and river boat charter holidays, educational and sporting based school trips, corporate hospitality and sporting event fan travel.

The key responsibilities include:


The position will be the direct, day to day contact for all global charter and group sales from qualifying opportunities, collaborating with internal departments to meet client requirements, contracting and delivery of the services.

The position will work hand in hand with the Executive Team to plan, develop and execute sales strategies to achieve annual charter and group sales goals.


Key tasks:


  • Conduct direct sales and customer service for full ship charter / exclusive voyage requests and perform necessary research requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Global Business Development field teams to identify and qualify charter and group opportunities.
  • Assess clients' needs, prepare and lead quotations and contracts that meet operational requirement and required pricing, contractual & operational standards, policies and regulations
  • Negotiate with Commercial and Fleet/Hotel Operations, to seek the most competitive option within the client's parameters and prepare Charter/Group proposals crafted to improve yields and secure premium margins on all charter/group sales.
  • Close interaction with Commercial, Guest Ground Services, Marine Operations, Hotel Ops/F&B, and Legal teams to capture all financial implications that are associated with crafting unique / custom charter experiences.
  • Charter customization includes (but not limited to): working with the Product/Operations team on feasibility of new or revised itineraries and potentially repositioning vessels,
  • In charge of customer relationship from agreement execution throughout the delivery of services as described in each customer's agreement
  • Maintain a business report that supervises all charter and group opportunities: Contracted, Pending and Lost business. Leverage inbound / outbound interactions to build selling opportunities.
  • Facilitate monthly meetings with Commercial and Operations to discuss the status of all pending / quoted charter business.
  • Responsible to stay up to date on all industry developments by attending tradeshows, conferences, Sales Meetings, client functions, training sessions, and MICE Trade Shows.
  • Facilitate and escort nonsailing and/or sailing site inspections as needed to secure new business if required.
  • Partner with Marketing to create compelling marketing pieces when required
  • Maintain charter reporting: Master itinerary grid, budget worksheets, proposal financials, profitability reporting, pipeline reports,
  • Post secondary education in Business or related field
  • Strong, related experience generating new business, growing existing sales and maintaining strong customer relationships; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the sales cycle, standard methodologies and current market trends

  • Ability to travel for work
  • Experience in the expedition cruise, mainstream cruise industry or cruise charter sales role an asset
  • Additional languages are an asset such as Spanish, French, Mandarin, German or Japanese
