The
Financial Protection Programs Specialist is a senior technical expert who provides support to the Manager, Underwriting & Account Services and other Agricorp staff to ensure participant compliance in financial protection programs delivered by Agricorp under the Grains Act and the Livestock and Livestock Products Act.


The Role:

The Financial Protection Program Specialist is accountable for conducting inspections, verifying program criteria, and working with program participants (i.e. licensed grain dealers, elevator operators, and livestock dealers) to successfully resolve any program compliance issues.


In this role, you will:

  • Ensure program participant compliance by conducting complex inspections and/or verifying supporting documents are issued in compliance with legislation; issue directives on noncompliance situations
  • Address mediumterm needs of producers and licenses by guiding customers through the Grains Act and the Livestock and Livestock Products Act requirements
  • Liaise between local agricultural industry (producers, suppliers, customer operations, crop consultants, elevators, associations) and Agricorp
  • Provide input and recommendations to improvements to the grain and beef inspection function, processes and procedures
  • Maintain industry contacts and professional affiliations to contribute to the grain inspection function and stay abreast of trends and best practices

Qualifications:


  • Appointment under the Grains Act and Livestock and Livestock Products Act to conduct inspections
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in grain (e.g. production, handling, marketing and grain grading) and experience in the livestock sales industry
  • Knowledge of Ontario agronomy and the management and marketing of local crops
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing to diverse groups including clients, and other industry professionals
  • Experience preparing written reviews to assist the business in making informed decisions
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or training others
  • Understanding of financial records an asset
  • Professional designations(i.e. CCA, CIP or FIIC) an asset
  • Valid Ontario Driver's license
