The Investment Finance

  • Client Financial Reporting (IFCFR) team at AIMCo is currently looking for a Client Financial Reporting Specialist to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing highly specialized accounting and financial reporting functions across a breadth and multilayered investment pool structure for AIMCo's clients. You will have the opportunity to provide expert guidance to internal and external clients on ongoing financial accounting reporting and statutory audits. Additionally, you will support ad hoc accounting projects and initiatives as required by Senior Leadership and the Board to deliver on the Investment Finance
  • Client Financial Reporting (IFCFR) team objectives.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead daily validations and resolve complex technical issues on accounting and financial reporting systems including data validation between dashboards, Simcorp Dimension (SCD), and existing internal reporting systems, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
  • Provide technical review and signoff on the Structured Query Language (SQL)/Power BI dashboard changes using existing datasets, including formula changes within designated systems as required.
  • Prepare and/or peer review all periodic and annual financial reports to clients with relevant investment related accounting notes and disclosures.
  • Ensure system controls operate effectively to support CSAE 3416 reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate and validate system change requests and lead user acceptance testing (UAT) of new processes and/or assigned projects, providing guidance to the team.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and recommending enhancements to standard operating procedures and policies that guide the IFCFR team's work.
  • Proactively respond to accounting and audit queries from internal and external clients, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Perform any other assigned responsibilities linked to Business As Usual (BAU), divisional, or corporate objectives, taking ownership and ensuring timely and accurate completion. Act on behalf of the Manager in Manager's absence, ensuring continuity and effective management of team activities. Provide leadership and support to the team, including backup, mentoring, and performance management, fostering a collaborative and highperformance culture.

One Year Success Measures:

  • Savvy with accounting and financial reporting systems such as SCD, SQL, PowerBI, and AIMCo based reporting tools to fulfil client's reporting needs. Established strong relationships amongst internal and external stakeholders.
  • Possesses a degree/diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, Computer/Data Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrates strong academic credentials with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the financial industry and accounting reporting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Holds a CPA/CFA designation.
  • Proficient in using data query tools such as SQL, Python, and Snowflake.
  • Proficient in using data visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel, with the ability to utilize pivot tables, and Microsoft PowerBI to create data models, DAX (data analysis expressions), Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics, and training materials.
  • Possesses a good knowledge of capital markets, investment finance, and accounting rules and guidelines, including GAAP, PASB, IFRS, and the Financial Administration Act (asset).
  • Exceptional at managing rapidly changing work priorities within designated timelines and can effectively communicate verbally and in writing with clients.
  • Highly resourceful, takes a collaborative approach to work, and can deliver primary assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration, and inspires the same in others.
