Description
Kiln Car Tender position has become available at the Aldershot Plant. This is a 12- hour continental (day / night) shift position, new hire start rate is $25. (After sufficient training is met pays $30.72).

DUTIES

  • Visually inspects the Kiln Cars and prioritizes their repairs.
  • Operates the Plant car moving equipment to properly stage the needed repairs.
  • Makes a more detailed inspection noting specifics of the repairs to be done.
  • Removes all viaducts with the bridge crane in a safe and organized manner.
  • Removes all deck plates with the bridge crane suction gripper in a safe and organized manner.
  • Removes border blocks with the bridge crane gripper device.
  • Uses portable vacuum to remove all sand and debris from pedestal blocks and ceramic fiber.
  • Reinstalls all border blocks, deck blocks to original specifications including ceramic fiber expansion joints.
  • Reinstalls all viaducts to original specifications.
  • Inspects kiln car frame and wheels and reports damage to Maintenance Department and assists in all repairs.
  • Lubricates Kiln Car wheels and assists Maintenance on bearing or wheel changes.
  • Manages all Kiln Car parts in a safe and efficient manner and practices good inventory control.
  • Performs monthly cycle counts on all refractories.
  • Set-up and troubleshooting car cleaner.
  • Monitors Dust Collector system.
  • Actively supports other crewmembers, when required.
  • Reports Maintenance requests to the Production Supervisor or Lead Hand. (Work in junction with Maintenance Team)
  • Communicate & work as a team with other operators.
  • Actively participates in maintenance shutdowns scheduled or unscheduled, when required by Production Supervisor or Lead Hand.
  • Work in a safe and efficiently manner, according to company policies.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times & participates in 5S program - Sort, store, shine, standardize & sustain.
  • And any other duties as required by Production Supervisor or Lead Hand., when the need arises

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Brick manufacturing experience would be an asset
General understanding of control systems
Valid Lift Truck Certification
Bridge Crane experience
Mechanical aptitude
Able to lift heavy materials


EDUCATION
High School Diploma
