FINISHING CARPENTER

ABOUT SIGFUSSON NORTHERN:

***: Reporting to the Carpenter Foreman, the Finishing Carpenter will carry out general carpentry duties and assemble/build pre-engineered modular homes. Work is completed inside the production building at our Lundar location.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:


  • Assemble modular homes using prefabricated wall panels
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Bolting, sealing, and fastening of structural components
  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment
  • Review building packing slips for correct quantity and type of building components
  • Correctly interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans
  • Responsible for operating electrical, airpowered, and regular hand tools during projects
  • Provide labour support to other workers as needed or as assigned by supervisors

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Carpenter Apprenticeship Level 4 or Red Seal
  • 3 years minimum experience as a carpenter
  • Experience working on modular homes would be considered an asset
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy loads
  • Ensure safety is a top priority at all times
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to selfstart and take initiative on tasks
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Must hold a valid class 5 driver's license
