FINISHING CARPENTER

ABOUT SIGFUSSON NORTHERN:

***: Reporting to the Carpenter Foreman, the Finishing Carpenter will carry out general carpentry duties and assemble/build pre-engineered modular homes. Work is completed inside the production building at our Lundar location.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Assemble modular homes using prefabricated wall panels
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
Bolting, sealing, and fastening of structural components
Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment
Review building packing slips for correct quantity and type of building components
Correctly interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans
Responsible for operating electrical, airpowered, and regular hand tools during projects
Provide labour support to other workers as needed or as assigned by supervisors

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Carpenter Apprenticeship Level 4 or Red Seal
3 years minimum experience as a carpenter
Experience working on modular homes would be considered an asset
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy loads
Ensure safety is a top priority at all times
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to selfstart and take initiative on tasks
Strong communication skills both verbal and written
Must hold a valid class 5 driver's license
