Manager, Subcontracts:


The Manager, Major Subcontractors leads the subcontract management for all industrial and turnkey suppliers from beginning to completion, ensuring that all objectives and goals set out in the subcontracts are driven and achieved.

This role leads a team of supply chain professionals.


Note:

Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.



What you'll do

  • Leads the delivery and execution of a major part of company's subcontract management program to ensure the successful outcome of the design and build programs.
  • Negotiates with project subcontractors as part of the tender process, leading to subcontracts that meet the organization's business objectives.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions of complex project subcontracts to meet the organization's business objectives.
  • Participates in the selection of external consultants or advisors to deliver key projects and/or ad hoc services; ensures that business objectives and requirements are clearly understood and monitors outcomes, taking appropriate remedial action where necessary.
  • Identifies and communicates the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explains the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivates people to achieve business goals.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Science, Finance or Law, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certification or training through an accredited procurement society such as the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) or New Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), The Logistics Institute (P. Log.), American Purchasing Society or The Association for Operations Management (APICS) CPIM program is desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Procurement including experience handling the procurement of large/strategic equipment in project environments, preferably in the shipbuilding industry.
  • Experience in planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results.
  • Leadership skills and ability to lead a team towards shared goal.
  • Expertise in preparing and driving multimillion dollar contracts, including change orders, claims and budgeting
  • Knowledge and skills to negotiate independently while providing guidance and training to others on how to help the organization by obtaining consensus between two or more internal or external parties who may have different interests.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, problem solve and multitask in a highpaced environment.
  • Understanding of procurement processes and corporate governance principles.
  • Knowledge of materials management.
