Motion Industries (Canada), a leading distributor of industrial MRO (maintenance, repair and operation replacement parts), and the largest Bearing and Power Transmission Company in NA is currently recruiting for an Assistant Distribution Center Manager for their 77,000 square foot distribution center in Edmonton.

This exciting and challenging opportunity will assist in the operational management of the Distribution Center and will assist in leading the DC team to provide excellent customer service that will enhance operations and sales.

Summary:


The Assistant Distribution Center Manager is responsible assisting in the operational management of our Edmonton Distribution Center and surrounding branches or shops if applicable.

This position develops procedures to ensure maximum efficiency, safety, quality, and compliance.

The Assistant Distribution Center Manager position reviews operational data and reports to develop recommendations for processes, control procedures, and staffing for optimal productivity, movement, efficiency, and alignment of co-dependent areas.

This position coaches, trains, and reviews employee performance.


Duties:


  • Directs and administers established safety, health and environmental policies and procedures ensuring all employees actively participate.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
  • Leads the short and longterm planning necessary to implement DC specific programs that meet the needs of Motion Industries' customers.
  • Assumes accountability for all financial results, sales, expenses, and asset control.
  • Directs employees in refining, developing and implementing DC programs as needed, in conjunction with the business plans of the DC and Motion Industries.
  • Maintains responsibility for physical plant, including cleanliness and security.
  • Maintains responsibility for ensuring a highlevel of customer service, which may include adherence to customer agreements, and resolution of problems surrounding delivery of products. Maintains key supplier relationships.
  • Leads the DC team to provide excellent customer service that will enhance and support operations and sales.

Education/Experience:

Typically requires a bachelor's degree and six (6) to eight (8) years of related experience or an equivalent combination.


Licences/Registrations/Certifications:

May need to be certified to operate a forklift and/or other mobile equipment


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • Demonstrated people and leadership skills with a record of achieving positive business results.
  • Good driving record required.
  • Excellent computer skills using Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical and mathematical skills required; financial acumen preferred.
  • Ability to create a safe working environment, ensuring that all members are knowledgeable of good safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Effective communications, coaching, and team building skills.
  • Ability to work as a team in a fastpaced environment.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and regularly life and/or move up to 2550 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance as necessary
