Position Summary

The Set-Up Operator's role is to organize the sequential arrangement of knives, spacers, and industrial rings on the slitting header in order to get high-quality steel strips.

This role is responsible for all activities to do with the set-up operation.

What you'll do:

Review work order specifications to determine proper machine setup for inputting correct sizes into the computer

Setting up the head properly on the set-up computer printout

Checking for the proper orientation of the knives after the set-up is finished

Stripping down the next head before setting up and clean/sort the back knives and rubbers into proper locations

Assist Operator to perform visual checks of slit edge, coil flatness and material surface condition (both top and bottom)

Assist Operator to perform measurement checks of material using calipers, tape measures and micrometers

What you'll need:

High school diploma or related job experience

Ability to speak English and understand English

Basic computer skills

Must be able to perform basic mathematic calculations of standard and metric measurement

Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Able to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines must be met

Ability to work overtime as required
