Technical Writer
As a Technical Writer, you have the opportunity to develop compelling self-help content that will help Alida customers, partners, and employees achieve their goals through our platforms and technologies.
You will primarily be focusing on user-facing documentation and knowledge base articles, although you may contribute to strategic deliverables and internal enablement as required.
You will be working with key internal stakeholders across the organization including Support, Professional Services, Customer Success, Engineering, and Product Management.
What you'll be doing in this role
- Writing new product documentation and knowledge base articles
- Revising and maintaining existing content
- Working closely with the Documentation Team Manager and other key internal stakeholders to assess content needs and then develop, plan, and produce content
- Test content workflows and concepts in the software
- Pass content through editorial and review processes
- Assist in developing best practice documents as required
- Recommend, implement, and adhere to content standards
Required skills and attributes
- Exceptional writing skills and fluency in English. Be confident and strong in your grammar skills. Be prepared to show samples of your work.
- Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field. Diploma or certification in technical communication is a plus.
- At least 23 years of experience producing selfhelp content (enduser documentation, help articles, or equivalent)
- Experience in a SaaS or startup atmosphere
- Familiarity with structured authoring and DITA
- Familiarity with lean/agile software development practices
- Strong grasp of technical communication fundamentals
- The ability to produce quality content with limited direction
- The ability to manage many (sometimes competing) tight deadlines
- The ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly
- The ability to approach problems with curiosity and logic
- The ability to collaborate with colleagues in remote locations and time zones
- Be coachable and open to constructive feedback and collaboration
- A detailoriented, analytical mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred skills
- Experience with DITA or XML
- Experience with XMetaL or similar documentation authoring tools
- Experience with SnagIt, Zendesk Guide, Jira
- Experience with Google Suite or MS Office
Work schedule
- Flexible hybrid. The number of days you will be in office can range from 13 days a week depending on whether inperson collaboration is required with stakeholders and team members.
*The typical salary range for this role in Canada is $90,000-95,000 CAD*_**
