Responsibilities:

Organize, lead, and instruct programs

Provide instruction, direction, and guidance to class participants

Ensure safe and proper procedures are followed

Qualifications:

Your education will include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, combined with related experience in programs and activities

Sound knowledge of recreation programs, practices, and objectives

Ability to organize, lead and participate in recreation programs and activities

Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with participants, recreation staff and volunteers

Additional certifications are considered an asset

Group Fitness Instructors

Emergency First Aid, CPR C/AED Certification (Required for RI - RI 5)

Dance Instructor Certificate - RI 1

BCRPA Aquafit Certification (or equivalent) - RI 2

BCRPA Fitness Certification (or equivalent) - RI 2

Spin, Yoga Fit, Older Adult Certification - RI 2/3

Pilates Instructor Certificate - RI 4

Yoga Instructor Certificate - RI 4

Zumba Instructor Certificate - RI 4

BCRPA Personal Trainer (or equivalent) - RI 4

BCAK Kinesiologist (or equivalent) - RI 5

Advanced Aquatics Instructors

Standard First Aid, CPR C/AED Certification (Required for RI - RI 5)

First Aid Instructor Certification - RI 2

Swim Instructor Trainer Certification - RI 4

National Lifeguard Instructor Certification - RI 4

Position Title

Recreation Instructor 1 (RI 1)

$ $30.74 plus 13.5% in lieu of benefits

Recreation Instructor 2 (RI 2)

$ $32.94 plus 13.5% in lieu of benefits

Recreation Instructor 3 (RI 3)

$ $34.03 plus 13.5% in lieu of benefits

Recreation Instructor 4 (RI 4)

$ $35.13 plus 13.5% in lieu of benefits

Recreation Instructor 5 (RI 5)

$ $36.23 plus 13.5% in lieu of benefits

The hours of work are varied, including day, evening and weekend classes and the rate of pay for each position is listed above; non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks.
