Job Description Summary:

GE Healthcare Canada has a unique 2-year Service Apprenticeship Program (CSAP) for College & University graduates who wish to pursue careers in health care services.

We are seeking a field service personnel for our Service Apprentice Program, specializing in Vascular & Invasive Cardiology technology.

This position will be based in Vancouver, British Columbia, with the opportunity for relocation within Canada as part of the mentoring experience and long-term post-graduation prospects of the program.

Our program is aimed at providing the technical and soft skills training required to become a successful field service representative in these areas or "modalities." The program includes a variety of soft skills training where we have consultants deliver training in areas such as Communication Skills, Negotiation skills, etc., as well as modality-specific Technical Training at our Healthcare Institute in the USA.

(Apprentices average 5-10 weeks over 18 months in the USA on training).

The people in our program are field based and assigned a mentor where they also receive on-the job training as well as written assignments, book reports, etc.

Company car will be provided for this role.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Work within hospital radiology environment to evaluate and troubleshoot imaging equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance on designated equipment.
  • Perform safety and environmental inspections ensuring compliance to Health and Human Services and Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Complete necessary service and repair documentation following hospital protocol and GE policies & procedures.
  • Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper followup, leading to customer satisfaction.
  • Learn and ensure proper care of tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
  • Mentor with and assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and resolution, and will work as a member of the local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within their assigned area.

Required Qualifications:


  • Recent graduate or current student of no more than 24 months from a Biomedical Technology or Electrical/Electronics or Mechanical Engineering Diploma/Degree.
  • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines.
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills and able to balance multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written/communications skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required.
  • Valid Canadian Driver's License.
  • Ability to travel to the US for technical & soft skills training at our Healthcare Institute.
