In accordance with the Trust/Research Academic Staff Agreement, this part-time position has has an approximate appointment length of 1 year with the possibility of extension and has a has a salary range of $23,929 to $29,914 (pro-rated).

  • This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and inperson; with onsite work primarily taking place at North Campus, Edmonton.

The Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (CMASTE) is a long-standing educational research and development centre that specializes in the synthesis of research, knowledge translation, and outreach.

CMASTE is located within the Faculty of Education.

Our membership includes educational researchers and teacher educators who work with educational stakeholders to collaborate in science, mathematics, and technology education.

CMASTE serves educational communities locally, nationally, and internationally.


Working as a Project Manager


The Project Manager is accountable for the ongoing administration of the Faculty of Education's Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (CMASTE), including administrative management, especially related to budget issues and reporting requirements of the projects housed within the Centre.


Duties
Project Management

  • Coordinates priorities and activities of numerous initiatives connected with the Centre
  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting for all associated grants projects
  • Develops and maintains operational procedures and practices, ensuring that all are compliant with University guidelines and policies
  • Recommends and initiates change or resolutions as necessary to ensure ongoing management, success and integrity of the Centre and associated projects
  • Coordinates work done by the Centre employees and independent contractors
  • Reviews contracts and liaises with lawyers or other University offices, as needed
  • Assists with preparation and finalization of outgoing proposals, supports grant writing as required
  • Website updates and administration
  • Creates detailed project plans and reviews projects in accordance with plans
  • Facilitates granting process including intake, review, general administration and completion for grants provided through CMASTE
HR Administration

  • Coordinates with Human Resources Service Partners/Associates and Shared Services to ensure current and pending appointments are executed within project guidelines and CMASTE procedures
  • Completes forms submitted to Shared Services for honoraria, new hires, employee type changes and extensions.
Finance Administration

  • Monitors all Centre and project accounts to ensure optimal and appropriate use of funds
  • Processes numerous queries and reconciles accounts on a monthly basis
  • Liaises with RSO, Financial Services, Faculty of Education Finance and Research Facilitator regarding problems related to the accounts
  • Creates and manages all project financial files, verifying all paperwork produced or received is processed correctly and reconciled
  • Investigates and resolves discrepancies between account transactions and account balances
  • Assists those affiliated with the Centre in preparing travel and expense claims (for both employees and nonemployee claims)
  • Maintains all travel and expense files for audit purposes
  • Provides advice and support to Centre Directors regarding various accounting regulations, systems, and tools for reconciling accounts
  • Ensures all project funds are properly received and expended according to the terms of the funding agreements
  • Prepares and processes purchase requisitions through SupplyNet
  • Assists in the compilation of financial information required for various reporting purposes, including all reporting required by the grant agreements and RSO
