    • Key Accountabilities:

  • Research and develop standards for testing based on test processes and best practices.
  • Write clear and concise documentation pertaining to testing, such as test policies, test strategies, test standards and templates.
  • Promote automated testing solutions for the organization to adopt: Architect automated testing solutions and guide their development and use. Keep abreast of trends, tools and technology platforms specific to testing.
  • Collaborate with staff from other teams to: Promote new standards Provide training of testing via presentations, training and discussions. Provide advice and guidance to improve and augment test capabilities. Provide guidance on unit, integration, system and acceptance level testing to all staff. Draft and review test requirements to support procured systems. Develop specifications and evaluation criteria for inclusion in requests-for-proposal (RFP) and other contracting documents.
  • Provide guidance related to testing in support of strategic initiatives: Assess test processes and initiate continuous improvement activities. Establish metrics to assess test processes. Work with teams to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Under the manager's direction, provide expertise on testing for complex projects including cross-functional projects.
  • Act as a technical testing authority to mentor and develop junior team members; recommend training to support their development.
  • Provide team leadership by assigning day-day tasks, monitoring their completion, reporting and providing feedback on performance.
  • Leads by example and promotes the Safety and Quality processes set forth by NAV CANADA.

    • Job Requirements

    Education:

  • Graduated from a recognized university or college with a degree in Computer Science or Engineering or an acceptable combination of education, related experience, and training.
  • Certifications from ( ) ISTQB is an asset.

    • Experience:

  • 7 + years' experience in all stages of System Development and Testing SDLC and its methodologies, from planning and design to testing.
  • Experience working with automation frameworks and programming languages.
  • Experience leading a team in a technical environment.

    • Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of configuration management and version control.
  • Expert in testing principles and how to apply them to large scale complex projects.
  • Expert in understanding the value of good testing and the testing requirements and best practices to create high-quality products.
  • Knowledge of contract/procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of test maturity models such as TMMi.

    • Abilities:

  • Ability to write clear, cohesive, and concise documentation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in conversation and in presentations to both technical and non-technical staff and management.
  • Ability to lead professional discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to research new areas to provide advice or practical solutions.

    • Personal Suitability:

  • Multi-tasking and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

    • Working conditions:

  • This position is based in Ottawa but may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
