POSITION:
REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE:
Evening Positions (3pm - 11pm)
STATUS:
RPN Full Time positions - Permanent & Maternity Leave
***: As RPN Charge Nurse, the staff will co-ordinates and oversees all aspects of resident focused delivery of care. Act as a resource and advocate for residents, families and staff. Priority one will be quality care, customer service and employee relations. In addition, the supervision and career coaching of existing team members on staff. Timely completion of RAI-MDS assessments and RAPS. Development and modification of the care plans in response to residents' change in status. Administers medications and treatments in compliance with the policies of Pharmacy provider, the Home and the Standard of the College of Nurses. Documents and reports all errors and omissions. Maintains accurate and complete records of nursing observations and care in compliance with the legislative requirements and the policies of the Home. Participates in the admission, discharge, transfer of the resident to/from unit. Full Position responsibilities to be followed as per The Rekai Centres Human Resources Manual.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports directly to the Director of Nursing Services, Director of Resident Care and Home RN-in-Charge
QUALIFICATION/REQUIRMENTS (But not limited to)
- Required: Current Registered Practical Nurse Certificate in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario: entitled to practice with no restrictions/limitations.
- Required: Basic CPR, Stable Work History, Highly Competent in medication administration
- Required: Minimum 1 year experience in a Supervisory Position in long term care setting
- Required: RAI-MDS
- AIS certified
- Required: To manage 25 Resident Unit and Effectively communicate, supervise and work with 4 PSW team
- Required: Vulnerable Sector Check, not less than 6 months old.
- Required: Fully COVID Vaccinated: 2 doses plus booster.
- Exceptional documentation & charting skills necessary with strong understanding of PointClickCare & Rai-MDS
- Welldeveloped written and oral communication skills
- Able to work in collaboration with other LTC departments _(Dietary, Reception, Physio, Environment etc)_
- Ability to lead the floor in extenuating circumstances & react to emergency situations appropriately as and when required
- Able to confidently liaison with family members regarding resident care & able to multitask

SKILLS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
- Positive working attitude with a strong work ethic
- Committed to promoting residents' wellbeing
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially with respect to staff, Residents, and Family Members
- Experienced with working with geriatric and Alzheimer's population in a long term care setting
- Physical fitness: Repetitive bending movement at/above/below waist/shoulders/ knees for extended periods of time. Pushing/ pulling movement, periodically lifting may be required, swift walking etc.
- Working Environment: Will be in close proximity and provide care to individuals exhibiting responsive behaviours due to neurological medical conditions.
- Ability to maintain a calm and composed demeanor in a high attention demanding environment.
- Recognized Leadership amongst PSWs, RPNs and RNs

From $26.01 per hour
