Schedule:

4 shifts biweekly:
-
Hours: 7:30am - 2pm
***:Under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager, ensures a clean, sanitary and safe home-like environment, within an interdisciplinary, resident-focused team.

Laundry tasks include but not limited to:

Properly sort, wash dry and label personal laundry following the approved laundry procedures
Fold, count, and stack linens following approved laundry procedures
Routinely inspect linens for wear and tear, identifying worn and torn linens and following Standard Operating Procedure for damaged linens
Maintain the laundry rooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition
Required to sanitize and sweep laundry areas before and after the shift
Required to report the inventory of chemical to the manager.
Required to report any malfunctioning of laundry equipment.
Must participate in Department meeting and huddles
Must practice Hand hygiene and infection control procedures as outlined by the Public Health.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager

REQUIRMENTS/ SKILLS (not limited to)**:

Grade 12 graduate or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
Prior knowledge and experience of housekeeping/laundry operations and equipment in Long Term Care Setting preferred.
Proof of ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Able to operate laundry equipment such as washing machines, dryers, linen press, and clothing labeler
Selfmotivated with the ability to work independently or in a team setting
Physically able to carry out duties of the position
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Competence in computer knowledge an asset
Physically capable of performing all assigned duties within a flexible work schedule required for a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation.
Current WHIMIS, Fall Protection certifications an asset

Physical Fitness Requirement: Extended periods of time at work standing, rapid movement, lifting, operating medium weight cleaning equipment such as commercial grade washing machine, sweeping and mopping floors etc. Manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance are required. Must be able to comfortably bend, stoop, lift, twist and turn, climb stairs etc. Ability to perform constant repetitious arm and wrist movements.

Environmental Conditions:
Spends most time indoors with possible exposure to high levels of heat when working with washing equipment. Possible exposure to distraction/uncomfortable noise levels. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin. Contact with potentially dangerous and toxic cleaning products with unpleasant odors. May be required to clean up bodily fluids.
