Dietary Aide_

The Dietary Aide reports to the Nutrition Manager, the Dietary Aide will follow the policies and procedures outlined by the Ministry of Long-Term Care and other governing bodies.

Dietary Aide Responsibilities:

Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences
Assemble nourishment carts
Observes time limits for meal serving
Maintains foods at proper serving temperature
Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables and fruits
Preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts and garnishes while following recipes and production
Clears plates and trays, loads and operates dishwasher
Cleans pots, pans and cooking utensils as per procedure
Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers
Adheres to established policies, procedures regarding quality assurance and infection control
Stocks unit serveries
Participates in facility meetings as assigned
Attends inservice and online education programs
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Food handler training certification.
Current certificate as a Food Service worker. Enrolled in a Food Service Worker/ Dietary aide program or have worked in a LTC home prior to July 1, 2010.
Comprehensive knowledge of dietary and food service practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
Ability to work effectively individually and with others while prioritizing task to be completed

MUST have a current Police Check (Vulnerable Sector).
