Dietary Aide_


The Dietary Aide reports to the Nutrition Manager, the Dietary Aide will follow the policies and procedures outlined by the Ministry of Long-Term Care and other governing bodies.


Dietary Aide Responsibilities:


  • Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences
  • Assemble nourishment carts
  • Observes time limits for meal serving
  • Maintains foods at proper serving temperature
  • Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables and fruits
  • Preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts and garnishes while following recipes and production
  • Clears plates and trays, loads and operates dishwasher
  • Cleans pots, pans and cooking utensils as per procedure
  • Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers
  • Adheres to established policies, procedures regarding quality assurance and infection control
  • Stocks unit serveries
  • Participates in facility meetings as assigned
  • Attends inservice and online education programs
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Current Food handler training certification.
  • Current certificate as a Food Service worker. Enrolled in a Food Service Worker/ Dietary aide program or have worked in a LTC home prior to July 1, 2010.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of dietary and food service practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
  • Ability to work effectively individually and with others while prioritizing task to be completed

MUST have a current Police Check (Vulnerable Sector).

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Handler Certification (preferred)
