Position Purpose and
Summary

The Sports Information & Media Assistant assists in executing the communications plan for Spartan Athletics with content creation being the focus of the role.

Key Areas of Accountability

Game Night Duties

Overseeing the production of video and photo content.
Assisting with broadcast production.
Assisting in social media content and distribution.
Assisting in game night communications duties as needed.

Weekday Duties

Creating video and photo content for Spartan Athletics, including features and promotional material.
Writing stories and previews, as needed.
Assisting in broadcast production planning.
Assisting in photographic and videographic storytelling.

Communications Assistance

Assist in social media content and distribution.
Assist in newsletter distribution.
Assist in communications planning and direction.
Assist in daytoday communications needs.

Skills and Abilities

Excellent video shooting and editing skills.
Excellent sports photography skills
Efficient and concise writer within a deadlinedriven environment.
Independent thinker with "outside the box" ideas.
Taskoriented with the ability to complete tasks within a fastpaced environment.
Able to work independently or as part of a team as needed.
Ability to work weekends during the sports season (September to December and January to March).

Standards & Requirements

Education:
Communications or Journalism degree.

Experience: 1-3 years of experience within the sports journalism field.

Duties and responsibilities that do not constitute a major change may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor either orally or in writing._
