Position Purpose and
Summary


The Sports Information & Media Assistant assists in executing the communications plan for Spartan Athletics with content creation being the focus of the role.


Key Areas of Accountability

Game Night Duties

  • Overseeing the production of video and photo content.
  • Assisting with broadcast production.
  • Assisting in social media content and distribution.
  • Assisting in game night communications duties as needed.

Weekday Duties

  • Creating video and photo content for Spartan Athletics, including features and promotional material.
  • Writing stories and previews, as needed.
  • Assisting in broadcast production planning.
  • Assisting in photographic and videographic storytelling.

Communications Assistance

  • Assist in social media content and distribution.
  • Assist in newsletter distribution.
  • Assist in communications planning and direction.
  • Assist in daytoday communications needs.

The Person

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent video shooting and editing skills.
  • Excellent sports photography skills
  • Efficient and concise writer within a deadlinedriven environment.
  • Independent thinker with "outside the box" ideas.
  • Taskoriented with the ability to complete tasks within a fastpaced environment.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team as needed.
  • Ability to work weekends during the sports season (September to December and January to March).

Standards & Requirements

Education:
Communications or Journalism degree.


Experience: 1-3 years of experience within the sports journalism field.

  • Duties and responsibilities that do not constitute a major change may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor either orally or in writing._
