Basic Purpose of Position:
  • To ensure that Line Maintenance meets the operational requirements in a safe and cost effective manner utilizing company procedures and industry best practice.

Responsibilities:


  • Using the corporate and division strategic plans, work with the Supervisor group to develop and implement the plans for the base.
  • Organize and lead regular meetings with direct reports and staff to communicate items of interest. Use such meetings to communicate corporate values and performance expectations and accountabilities.
  • Develop and routinely review organizational structure within the base to ensure proper lines of responsibility are clearly identified within the team to ensure maximum efficiency of work group.
  • Support Supervisors with follow up on regular corporate support systems such as Attendance Management Program and personnel training.
  • Initiate all staffing requisitions in accordance with budgetary and workforce requirements.
  • Offer guidance and direction to direct reports on matters of discipline and general base administrative situations.
  • Support Continuous Improvement Facilitator (CIF) activities with the required resources, actions and visibility through scheduled meetings including regular report outs.
  • Coaching and mentoring of Supervisors.
  • Work with the local labour groups to ensure contract guidelines are followed in areas such as shift bids, vacation, overtime etc.
  • Routinely carry out reviews of the annual base budget and update the budget as required for changes in the business plan using current information and trends.
  • Review monthly spending reports for accuracy and expenditure of funds. Complete variances reporting as required and participate in spending review meetings.
  • Coach Supervisors in areas of financial management, budgeting, and development of business plans.
  • Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, and the safety of coworkers and customers.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • 5 years work experience in a unionized aircraft maintenance environment is required.
  • Supervisory and/or management experience in a Line maintenance environment is considered an asset.
  • Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence is required.
  • Sound technical knowledge with the ability to recognize safety deficiencies and able to take immediate action in response.
  • Strong skills in production management including administration, priority setting, process improvement and benchmarking for best practices.
  • Negotiation skills for vendor management and labour contract negotiations.
  • Budgeting and fiscal management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Airline operations including Safety and Regulatory requirements.
  • Experience dealing with OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacture), vendors and aircraft manufacturers.
  • Sound knowledge of Maintenance program development and MSG3 (Maintenance Steering Group3) analysis.
  • Strong Leadership in the industry, capable of representing organization at various levels.
  • Leadership and Communication Training is an asset.
  • Unionized Labour Management training is an asset.
  • Project Management experience is an asset.
  • Fluency in both English and French would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary is required.
