The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) is an award-winning settlement

agency that has contributed to Greater Victoria's vibrant community for over fifty years.

ICA's services range from guiding immigrant entrepreneurs as they create small businesses
to supporting vulnerable newcomers to become confident, contributing members of our

community. In partnership with more than 500 community partners and generous donors
and volunteers, ICA serves as a helping hand, a listening ear, and a tireless advocate for

immigrants and refugees.

We are looking for a
full-time Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) Specialist for
our Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program. The PSR Specialist will coordinate the

administration of the PSR program, provide one-on-one support to finish Constituent Group

oversee the development and dissemination of materials. You are passionate about

are a problem solver who can build working relationships with other service providers and

effectively use technology to provide culturally sensitive solutions for our clients.


What you will bring to the role:

  • A passion for helping others and a positive mindset.
  • Experience working in the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program.
  • Familiarity with the resources provided by the Refugee Sponsorship Training
Program.

  • Experience in program planning, organizing, and facilitating workshops/courses for
varying levels of linguistic competence, and client outreach.

  • Involvement in adhering to compliance maintenance, tracking, audits, and reporting.
  • Provide culturally sensitive problemsolving assistance.
  • Strong administrative skills, including writing case notes and data management.
  • 2+ years' experience in a social service, notforprofit and/or multicultural
environment.

  • Proficiency in a settlement/resettlement language (Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Oromo,
Somali, Persian) preferred.

  • This position requires proof of WHMIS training, and a criminal record check that
includes vulnerable populations check.


Additional assets we value:


  • Postsecondary education in social sciences, refugee/forced migration studies,
community development, adult education, or related fields or combination of
education, training, and experience.

  • Keen understanding of diversity issues to work with persons from diverse cultural
and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Computer proficiency, including experience with client management databases.
  • Multilingualism.

Compensation and hours:This position starts at $26.

17 per hour (April 1, 2024 rate),

working a maximum of 35 hours per week, and requires union membership.
