    JOB OVERVIEW
  • Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and resultsdriven professional to join our team in the role of First Line Manager, Security Clearance.
  • Reporting to the Section Manager, Security Clearances, this position is responsible to lead a team to administer a highly sensitive and confidential corporate wide security program that provides security background clearances.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG's public outreach, engagement and education efforts as part of the company's commitment to growing its social license.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Lead a team and be accountable for their work output, by facilitating the planning and organizing of the group's work, providing advice, guidance and direction as necessary.
  • Using the philosophy of continuous improvement and teamwork, develop, implement and maintain detailed work methods for staff.
  • Act as a coach and facilitator to create and sustain a cooperative and supportive group environment, actively working with staff to provide training and empower them to attain optimal work performance with a high level of personal responsibility and self.
  • Provide clear expectations and performance measures, meaningful feedback and recognize and reward achievements
  • Make decisions related to the eligibility for employment Security Clearance based on the interpretation of criteria.
  • Provide security background clearances for external parties contracted to OPG. Provide reports of performance metrics and forward to Section Manager for review.
  • Represent the corporate security function (Renewable Generation, Corporate Functions & Nuclear) in matters pertaining to security clearance decisions (including preemployment and internal redeployment) and grievance processes.
  • Plan and execute designated services consistent with approved policies and procedures. Maintain awareness of new administrative techniques and methods to identify opportunities, and when approved, realize improvement opportunities.
  • Understand and maintain a current working knowledge of all required legislation, guidelines, or internal policies (Code of Conduct) that directly affect the sharing of information.
  • Accountable for the health and safety of all workers and contractors and ensure requisite requirements for health and safety of staff are met.
  • Other Duties as Required

EDUCATION

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Police Foundations, Law and Security Administration, Criminology or equivalent experience normally acquired during successful continuous employment in an enforcement, statutory compliance or comparable security environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have had successful employment in an enforcement, statutory compliance or comparable security environment and successfully completed relevant postsecondary education. Or the equivalent qualifications normally acquired during successful continuous experience in enforcement, statutory compliance or comparable security environment;
  • Experienced leader with the capacity to effectively motivate, coach, facilitate, and empower others to attain optimal work performance with a high level of personal responsibility and selfmanagement ;
  • Strong problemsolving skills to address and overcome current and future challenges;
  • Possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills;
  • Ability to inherently demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality, a high level of integrity and be trustworthy;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to be expressed across all communication channels
  • Hold a valid driver's license
  • Have the ability to successfully obtain a Level II Security Clearance as facilitated by OPG.
