Material's Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, and Soil) Firm, that provides engineering consultation, construction field reviews, and construction materials testing, for a wide array of projects and clients throughout British Columbia and Alberta.

Kontur is growing and is seeking a _
Materials Testing Technician_ to become part of Kontur's team. This position will be based in Sechelt. This is an hourly permanent position, with the expectation of full-time hours.

Job Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Field Testing (compaction testing, asphalt coring, concrete testing etc.)
  • Aggregate, soils and concrete laboratory testing as needed;
  • Conducting Laboratory tests according to testing procedures;
  • Using, cleaning and maintaining various types of equipment;
  • Construction field review and/or monitoring;
  • Other requested administrative or miscellaneous tasks requested by your supervisor.

Job Requirements:


  • Must have a reliable vehicle in good working condition, properly insured for business use.
  • Must have a valid BC driver's License.
  • Must have an ability to lift and control weights up to 22 kgs/50 lbs.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be available for shift work (day/night).
  • Must be available to travel and work away from the main office/laboratory of extended periods.
  • Must be available to work outdoors and in all weather conditions, when safe to do so.
  • Must have at least a Grade 12 Highschool Diploma.
  • Postsecondary certificates or training an asset.
  • CCIL Certification is an asset.
  • Previous TDG Training and experience using a Nuclear Gauge an asset.
  • Lab experience is an asset.
Hourly wages will be commensurate to experience. This position is also eligible to participate in Kontur's Group Benefits, performance incentives, and Continued Professional Development plans/policies. Phone and Vehicle allowances will be provided.


Salary:
$22.00-$30.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Sechelt, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
