Instructor - Adult Basic Education (Kitimat)

Job description and duties

Duties:
The Instructor will be responsible to facilitate learning for students, ensuring successful completion of Math and Science courses.

This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students as well as completing the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities.

Delivery will be two days per week (either Mon-Tues or Tues-Wed) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.


Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor's degree in a directly related discipline
  • A Provincial Teaching Certificate or a Provincial Instructor's Diploma
  • A Master's Degree in a related discipline or in Adult Education is preferred
  • Teaching experience in an Adult Basic Education / Career and College Prep program (preference will be given to those with experience teaching Advanced/Provincial levels) is preferred
  • Demonstrated dedication to excellence in teaching with the ability to inspire and mentor learners of all ages
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
