Guest Services Assistant, Campus Living term - Winnipeg, Canada - University of Winnipeg

This posting will be used to fill 1-3 positions. This is a term position ending August 30, 2024
Responsibilities
:
- File, photocopy and fax various hostel documents as required.
- Complete all paperwork accurately such as Hostel Guest Agreement, daily log &Inventory.
- Check ins/outs of hostel guests.
- Conducts weekly linen inventory and reports the numbers to the Residence Admissions Coordinator.
- Acts as a first point of contact for hostel guests.
- Enter guest information, creates bookings, adds charges, takes payment in Star Rez database.
- Assist in daily room cleaning and linen changes for guests.
- Arranges for linen cleaning/laundering as required.
- Set up and take down hostel rooms as required.
- Hostel Room upkeep, monitor and promote cleanliness of hostel rooms.
- Perform tours for hostel guests, administration, and other University Faculty or Staff when required.
- Other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
:
- Knowledge of the UWinnipeg Hostel operation.
- Excellent office and telephone skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients who may be staff, students, and/or the public.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer/keyboard skills and a familiarity with Internet Explorer/Windows XP environment, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and become familiar with basic University rules, regulations and procedures concerning Housing.
- Must have a strong understanding of the University and its departments and resources.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Condition(s) of Employment
:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must be a fulltime student at The University of Winnipeg.
- Must be certified in First Aid/CPR and certification must remain valid for duration of employment. Documentation must be provided to the Campus Living Office before the employment start date.
- Must attend all mandatory training sessions, professional development sessions and meetings,
including the training sessions starting April 17, 2024.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work day, evening and weekends shifts.
- Employment is contingent on obtaining a positive criminal record/child abuse registry check. The responsibility for the checks lies with the applicant, and proof of initiation must be provided to Human Resources within 7 days of employment.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times. All GSAs must complete FIPPA/PHIA Training Module. Breaches of confidentiality will result in immediate dismissal.

The work described in this posting will be conducted in-person.
