For training purposes, you will be working the day shift. Once trained, you will transition to the afternoon shift. Your primary hours of work will then be Monday to Friday from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

There will be a $2.00 per hour shift premium available on top of the regular starting hourly rate range of $26.00 to $32.00, dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete daily and weekly equipment inspections and preventative maintenance activities
  • Complete daily and weekly mechanical checks
  • Actively manage equipment requirements with immediate supervisor and maintenance department
  • Maintain all documentation required to support above activities
  • Actively participate in material identification, evaluation, and segregation ensuring that materials sheared meet machine specifications
  • Work with and coordinate shearing activities with other operators
  • Operate equipment according to manufacturer's specifications and directions
  • Maintain and coordinate housekeeping activities within the shear control room and surrounding support structures
  • Make recommendations on processing improvements
  • Adhere to company policies, processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with supervisors on developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work
  • Other assigned duties as may be required to meet operational objectives

  • Ability to monitor processes, material and operating environment
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment (loaders, excavators, etc.)
  • Mechanically inclined, with some experience in welding and electrical
  • Excellent control, coordination, response and dexterity skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills
  • Organizational and time management abilities
  • Resultsoriented team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to actively listen and use creativity to solve problems
  • Ability to recognize the environmental factors and risks that enable and support safety in the workplace
  • Ability to maintain professionalism always and work with limited supervision
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to complete reports as required
  • Ability to multitask and meet objectives/deliverables
  • High standards for work, meticulous, with great attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Confident, resourceful, and highly motivated
  • Possess A 'cando' attitude
Education and Experience

  • 7+ years' experience operating heavy equipment
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Background in mechanics is considered a strong asset
  • Safety conscious
