Upscale Japanese Restaurant is seeking a General Manager who will be responsible for facilitating daily operations.

The General Manager will ensure to provide exceptional personalized customer service to our guests, ensuring guests are delighted in their dining experience.

They will be one of the key influencing factors to ensure that guests are charmed by the quality of service offered.

Will work closely with both back and front of house teams and report directly to the Director of Operations and two co-owners
.



Responsibilities

  • Managing personnel, operations, and overall profitability (e.g., procurement, costs and inventory management)
  • Establishing and directing standard operating procedures in the Back of House to ensure compliance with food handling and safety requirements, food and menu specifications and storage procedures
  • Establishing and directing standard operating procedures for all Front of House employees while motivating them to excel and perform to their best potential
  • Organizing all scheduling and supervision of employees, including recruitment and training where needed
  • Coordinating public events and marketing events for the restaurant
  • Collaborating with our marketing team to organize and execute marketing campaigns that will increase brand awareness
  • Upholding the highest standards of hospitality and service for customer satisfaction
  • Managing the dining room to ensure excellent service is provided to maximize guest satisfaction and guest relations
  • Supporting food preparation and servicing to guests

Job requirements:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in upscale & fine dining Japanese restaurants
  • Experience managing a team of 15+ employees in a restaurant, including hiring and training new employees
  • Experience working in a highend fine dining restaurant and coordinating with both front end and back end team members
  • Experience in Food & Beverage/Restaurant operations
  • Experience with Japanese Omotenashi to provide superior Japanese hospitality
  • Knowledge of Japanese products like fish, spices, sauces, sake, tea etc. and the ability to describe and explain to customers how special the dishes are
  • Ability to provide sake pairings with different food
  • Wine and Sake knowledge, and Smart Serve
  • Knowledge of Japanese decorations, plate selections, Ikebana flower arrangements
  • Completion of secondary school required. Postsecondary diploma or degree in management, marketing, or related preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills and customer service skills
  • Exceptional problemsolving skills and public relationship experience
  • Passion for providing extraordinary service

  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
  • Upbeat, outgoing, and positive personality
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits

  • Flexibility and openness to change course according to the needs of the business
  • Japanese & English speaking is an asset
  • Deep knowledge of Japanese cuisine and culture

More detailed description but not limited to the following:

  • Staffing
  • responsible for staffing (hosts and sushi chefs) and that employees receive the necessary training to ensure quality dishes are produced. He/she assign duties to other positions.
  • Inventory responsible that all food supplies are ordered, stocked, and properly stored (This includes managing wastage and food cost). This includes all food items, dishes and utensils, cleaning products, cooking supplies and any other item necessary for sushi bar functioning.
  • Maintain a gracious, pleasant and friendly attitude while contributing to a teamworkbased environment
  • Adhere to the company dress and appearance policy
  • Ensure the highest quality preparation and presentation of food items

Salary:
$90,000.00 per year
