IT Infrastructure Analyst - Nepean, Canada - Costco Wholesale

Description of position
This position performs the tasks necessary to design, configure, implement and support the Ottawa Regional Office server technologies as well as Canadian Locations' server technologies in conjunction with several groups, including the Issaquah head Office.
Daily tasks and responsibilities
- Ensure performance and availability of all systems, physical or virtual.
- Ensure all Costco standards, policies and procedures are followed when applicable.
- Ensure issues escalated to the team are dealt with promptly and professionally according to SLA standards.
- Provide accurate assistance to all users with an appropriate sense of urgency and positive attitude.
- Daily troubleshooting, support and maintenance of server technologies, including remote support and CARTS incidents.
- o Automation when possibleCoordonate with our vendors the repairs relative to system problems and ensure they follow Costco's service agreement.
Manage the growth and the performance of the systems.
- Proactively provide the business with solutions that meet their needs within a reasonable time frame.
- Document all managed systems for peers or others required for the continuity of the business.
- Perform cable patching for clients.
- Available during the office business hour's window or outside this window for support and special projects. Available for a rotational 24/7 on call schedule (use of personal cell phone required).
- Exercise professional written and verbal communication skills at all times.
- Place service calls to internal teams and external service companies and actively perform followups on these calls.
- Help in the justification of software and hardware requests.
- Maintain the appropriate level of IT and business knowledge as well as best practices.
- Keeps the environment clean and very well organized.
Typical schedule
- Monday to Friday within office hours. May be required to work evenings and weekends based on the needs of the business.
- Typical shifts and days off will be discussed at the time of the interview but could change as per the needs of the business.
- Education/Training: Degree in Computer Science or equivalent formal training and experience, is required.
- Minimum 3 years' experience or equivalent education in a server technologies role or in Desktop support, is required
Experience and/or working knowledge:
- Knowledge in configuring / installing / managing Windows server is
required
- Knowledge in configuring / installing / managing VMware vCenter is
required
- Knowledge with SSH, RDP and other remote administration technologies.
- Knowledge of Desktop support.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Must demonstrate knowledge of server operations in a large scale compute environment, capacity planning, change management practices, disaster recovery planning, scripting and system automation.
- Must be able to manage stress, priorities and commit to timelines and deliverables.
- Must demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills
- Able to quickly assimilate new concepts and support new systems
- Able to provide project estimates and workbreakdown schedules.
- Able to work in a team within the company or with third parties to deliver quality solutions.
- Able to work effectively and produce consistent results with minimum supervision.
- Autonomous, selfmotivated, responsible, conscientious and detail oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English is required (French, is preferred).
- Adaptability to strategy changes, priority or work schedule.
- Ability to multitask.
- Able and available to travel.
- Knowledge in configuring / installing / managing Cisco UCS technologies, a plus.
- Knowledge in configuring / installing / managing DELL Unity and Isilon technologies, a plus.
- Good understanding and/or aptitude with scripting, VB scripting and batches.
- Good understanding of DR/HA and colocation design implications.
- Good understanding of Infrastructure in a distributed environment, a plus.
- Knowledge in configuring / installing / managing Linux servers, a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL, CommVault Simpana, SAN Zoning, a plus.

Hybrid Model up to 2 days working from home after probation period
Salary:
From $72,000.00 per year
