Job Summary
- Dalhousie Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) is the premier Maritime location for advanced study with over 3,500 graduate students in a researchintensive environment who can choose from over 95 Master's degrees and more than 45 Doctoral programs. Students learn with top professors in their fields; experts who are recognized across Canada and the world. Reporting to the Office & HR Administrator, the Receptionist will provide reception and general clerical support services to the FGS team, greeting a wide variety of visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Address routine and general inquiries related to admissions, program and course registration, funding and other business functions. This will require a thorough awareness of FGS regulations and upcoming deadlines and events.
- Receive visitors arriving for meetings with Deans, Associate Deans or other staff, inform the receiving party, and escort the visitor to appropriate meeting space.
- Record receipt, movement and status of various files and documents in a logical and accessible manner, often with the use of Microsoft Excel.
- Perform routine office duties such as mail distribution, courier arrangements, key signouts, scan and distribute documents, order office supplies, arrange office equipment service and maintenance.
Note
- Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work inperson on campus.
Required Qualifications
- Business/Office Administrative diploma with approximately one to two years of related work experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel).
- Solid clientservice, teamwork and communication skills.
- Must demonstrate excellent recordkeeping and time management.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a busy office environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
