The Central North Correctional Centre is seeking a Storekeeper Assistant to perform manual and stock control duties relating to warehousing operations and to supervise inmate helpers in the storekeeping duties.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Receive, handle, store and distribute a wide variety of equipment and supplies
  • Assemble, repackage goods and mix products for distribution/use, using a forklift as required
  • Check incoming goods, fill stock requisitions and orders
  • Contact suppliers regarding short shipments, delays, backorders, etc. as directed by Storekeeper
  • Receive, record, store and distribute materials, products and equipment
  • Take inventory and monitor stock and equipment levels
  • Provide supervision and instruction to offenders, ensuring safety and security of helpers, tools, equipment and work area

Note:
Custodial Responsibility Allowance applies as there is supervision of offenders. (K-1 salary note)


How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


  • You currently possess or have the ability to obtain a fork lift operator's certificate

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:


  • You have knowledge of stockroom operation and warehousing/shipping practices and procedures in order to receive, store and distribute stock and equipment
  • You possess knowledge of ministry record keeping procedures in order to record stock transactions
  • You can ensure the proper handling and storage of goods and the safety and security of stock area

Analytical, Reasoning and Problem Solving Skills:

  • You possess analytical and problem solving skills in order to accurately check incoming goods for completeness, select required stock items and materials, fill orders, identify diminishing stock and rectify by notifying supervisor of needs
  • You possess reasoning skills to review requests and check for proper authority when selecting and filling required stock items and materials
  • You can provide input into offender reports and recognize security and workplace hazards

Communication and Computer Skills:


  • You possess oral and written communication skills in order to provide guidance and direction to offender helpers in a clear and concise manner
