JIAS Toronto is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping immigrants with resettlement in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto assists lawfully admitted immigrants and refugees in meeting basic financial, social, legal, and other requirements of immigration.

We work to advance the well-being and social integration of newcomers by providing a full range of outreach, support, counseling, training, and referral resources.


JIAS Toronto is currently seeking a
Human Resources Intern to work closely with the HR Team, assisting them with administration, policies, and recruitment.

This full-time position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs and requires the incumbent to be between the ages of 18 to 30 years of age and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
This position will pay $18 per hour up to 420 hours.



RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide support by inputting historical data into the HRIS system and training databases
  • Provide payroll and administrative support to the HR team
  • Maintain HR and employee files
  • Assist with compiling HR related statistical data
  • Assist in updating agency policies and employee handbooks
  • Supporting the HR team with recruitment by developing job postings and performing screenings
  • Assist with scanning, copying, and filing of HR documents and maintenance of HR files
  • Maintain, review, and update policies and procedures according to internal procedures and controls; mapping processes, drafting, developing, reviewing, and amending policies and procedures
  • Create and automate workflow charts
  • Review and amend policies and procedures of the Human Resources department ensuring compliance with provincial and federal governments
  • Ability to analyze, simplify, and summarize complex information accurately

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary education in the area of Human Resources Management, Communications, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in reading and interpreting provincial and federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures will be an asset
  • Experience in policy and procedure writing will be considered an asset
  • Exceptional written communication skills, to include composition, spelling, and grammar for editing documents produced in the English Language
  • Knowledge in ADP Workforce now is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • Selfmotivated and able to perform with mínimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
