Program Coordinator & Jewish Community Connector

Contract until March 31, 2024:


  • JIAS Toronto is a notforprofit corporation dedicated to helping immigrants with settlement in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto assists immigrants and refugees in meeting basic financial, language, social, and other requirements of immigration. We work to advance the wellbeing and social integration of newcomers by providing a full range of settlement support, counseling, language training, and referral services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • We are currently looking for a Program Coordinator & Jewish Community Connector to join our team. The Program Coordinator & Jewish Community Connector will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that support the settlement, integration, and wellbeing of immigrants and refugees.


As a Jewish Community Connector, this position will do outreach to Jewish newcomers, both online and in person at community events and act as a resource to Jewish newcomers.

This position will also be a liaison to UJA Federation and affiliated community partners to foster inter-agency collaboration and help newcomers find their entry points to the vast and varied Jewish community programs and opportunities in the GTA.

This role will require familiarity with and enthusiasm for Jewish community life and programs and a drive to cultivate relationships and work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in Human Services or a related area
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the Settlement or not for profit sector
  • Experience working with youth, seniors, immigrants, refugees, and/or Jewish community
  • Strong organization, planning, logistics, and execution skills
  • Excellent communicator and connector
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and databases. Salesforce is a strong asset.
  • Commitment to learn about the many institutions, programs and opportunities that are available to Jewish community members of all ages
  • Commitment to attend community events as part of JIAS Toronto's outreach to untapped prospective clients
  • Fluency and/or working knowledge of Russian (Hebrew is also an asset)
