Description

The Plumber Trades - Pipefitter works under the direction of the Supervisor of Mechanical Maintenance and is responsible for the assembly, installation and repair of pipes, fittings, fixtures of heating, water, sewer and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.


As the _Plumber Trades - Pipefitter_
_ _you will**:

  • Reconstruct plumbing pipe work and fixtures such as toilets, sinks, etc. in facilities such as Wastewater Pollution Control Centres and Pump Stations.
  • Repair and install natural gas or digestive gas piping in digestion systems.
  • Service and repair heaters.
  • Reconstruct and install new sludge lines, air lines, water lines as required, including laboratory piping and fixtures such as deionized water lines.
  • Renew and repair chemical lines as required for wastewater treatment.
  • Repair heating systems pipes, traps, etc.
  • Supervise other trades and trades helpers as required.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and safe work pratices.
  • Performs other duties related to the position, as assigned.

Your education and qualifications include:


  • Successful completion of Grade 12, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Several years proven experience in commercial/industrial plumbing.
- "A" ticket certification for HVAC repairs, and Backflow certification would be preferred.

  • Must have experience with commercial and industrial piping installations and have knowledge of welding, soldering, brazing and various methods of joining pipes as required by the trade.
  • Thorough knowledge of plumbing materials and methods of installation.
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications and to be able to order material from blueprints.
  • Ability to make rough drawings of required modifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the occupational hazards, safety precautions, regulations and procedures that are applicable to the position's area of work.

Conditions of employment:


  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Current Interprovincial Journeyman Plumber's Certificate recognized by the Province of Manitoba.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence.
  • Must be physically capable of performing all of the duties of the position in various weather conditions. May be required to work from scaffolds, ladders, in confined spaces, and in hazardous locations.
