We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team for 8 weeks in the role of Early Childhood Educator Assistant Junior Kindergarten.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:


  • Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
  • Work with children in the classroom to promote their learning and development.
  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
  • May coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties.
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
  • May assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
  • Assist in developing lesson plans based on provincial requirements and the specific needs of each child.
  • Collaborate with teachers to monitor the development of each child.
  • Understand the teacher's routine when it comes to delivering a lesson plan and running the class in the event that the teacher is absent on a particular day.
  • Ability to lift a min. of 40 lbs. especially when working with infants and toddlers.
  • May coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.

This position is a part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program with funding provided by Service Canada.

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protections have been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations (international students on a work/study permit are not eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program).
  • Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor Degree /Certificate in early childhood education and related fields (If any).
  • Relevant Experience (If any).
- "Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check" (mandatory).

  • Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment (mandatory).

Work Schedule:

Working Hours: 35 hours/ week, Monday - Friday

  • Start Date: Tuesday, 20th June, 2023
Work Duration: 8 weeks
