March 22, 2024**The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry) is a charitable organization that supports women, girls,

and children at risk, involved in or affected by the justice system. Our programs work to break the cycle of

poverty, addiction, mental illness, homelessness, and crime.


We are recruiting for a temporary, full time, Overnight Support Worker for Columbia Place for a 1year

contract. Located in New Westminster, Columbia Place provides up to 17 women on conditional release
from the Fraser Valley Institution for Women and other correctional settings with a supportive communal

housing program in which they can demonstrate their ability to self-manage and complete the terms of

their order from the Parole Board of Canada. Operating on an awake basis around the clock, staff support

women to complete the community plan they presented to the Parole Board, and report, as legally

required, on the women's whereabouts to enable the governing legislative requirements to be met.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide oneonone programming, monitoring, and case management support to women on conditional
release within a halfway house setting.

  • Provide for the safety and wellbeing of residents and the community.
  • Record all activities and interactions with participants as part of the ongoing case management.
  • Monitor the daytoday operations of residence to ensure quality control for all equipment and maintain
maximum cleaning effectiveness.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Diploma in Social Services/Criminology or other relevant disciplines with an accredited educational
institution.

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience with criminalized women in a residential environment.
  • Proven knowledge related to incarceration and parole.
  • Working knowledge of legislation and policies related to Social Assistance & Mental Health Act.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Food Safe Level
  • Standard First Aid with CPR-C.
  • Evidence of COVID19 vaccination status.
  • Evidence of a Tuberculosis Test and compliance with the TB Control Program.
  • Doctor's Note of fitness required.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Review (Vulnerable Sector Search)
  • Valid driver's license (Class 5) with satisfactory driving record preferred.
