We are looking for a Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our Payroll Team in Utopia, ON.

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of preliminary payroll reports, time sheets, spreadsheets, company benefits and pension, assuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations and company policies.

Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure hours are categorized and allocated to correct cost centers throughout the Organization
Administer the accumulation of payroll submissions (salary and hourly employees), as well as special payments.
Prepare and transmit payments for RPP and garnishments as required.
Update payroll system and (where applicable) electronic timekeeping system with all pertinent information for new employee set-ups, department transfers, personal information changes, employment status changes, and payroll deduction changes
Daily scorecard reporting
Assist with month end preparation
Maintain employee files
Prepare Records of Employment as required, in accordance with legislated timeframes
Coordinate employees and ensure their compliance with Organizational practices and policies within the Payroll and Benefits program
Effective organizational skills with demonstrated ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Ability to provide flexible coverage/hours of work to meet operational needs.
Ensuring that benefits roster is kept current and accurate at all times.

Skills, Education & Experience

Post secondary education in Accounting or Business Administration required
Working towards obtaining Level 1 Payroll Practitioner Certificate preferred
1-2 years previous experience in payroll and benefits administration
Strong understanding of rules, regulations and legislation applicable to Canadian payroll and benefits administration
Working knowledge and experience with payroll systems required
