We are currently hiring a Previz & 3D Layout Artist

Reporting to: 3D Layout Supervisor

Purpose:
Why you're here at Brown Bag Films

To interpret the 2D animatics and create 3D cinematic layout sequences.
To translate the 2D Designs into simple and clean previsualization geometries to establish the scale, size, and functionality for the key story points.
To coach and develop the work of other artists in the team, problem solving as appropriate (Lead only).

Delivery:
What you produce

Camera scouting based off of Locked Leica
Placing 2D Cards and CG Assets into shots
Compiling High quality layout sequences

Measurements:
How we measure it

Completion of tasks within agreed schedule
Handling of revisions and changes effectively
Quality of layout passes observing the principles of cinematography
Team development & technical capability (Lead only)

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities: What you are regularly responsible for doing
Producing previz & layout sequences with an emphasis on camera, staging, timing and functionality of a sequence.
Collaborating with the Directors to create sequence layout and location blocking.
Reviewing camera work in blocking/layout passes (Lead)
Providing regular progress updates to Production and Layout Department Supervisor (Team Lead) on any technical/workflow bottlenecks within that project's layout schedule.
Complete training tasks assigned by the Dept Supervisor & Lead artist. (Junior Only)
Approving and providing guidance in Layout within the department both inhouse and for overseas studios.

Key Requirements

Requirements:
Good understanding of creating previz assets that meet story and staging purposes.
Good understanding of camera lens, composition.
Good sense of pacing and timing in Animation.
Good experience working as a Previz/Layout Artist Lead (or similar position) in either broadcast or feature film work. Experienced in CG Previz pipeline development (desirable) AND with asset tracking systems (e.g. Shotgun) (desirable).
Good working knowledge of animation principles, camera setup and previz/proxy modelling in Maya.
