What will you do?

  • Plan and manage realestate related projects following Sun Life & industry best practices. Scope can range from small refresh projects to mediumlarge renovations at Financial Centres and major or regional sites across Canada.
  • Responsible for ensuring client requirements are captured and embedded into project artefacts throughout the project life cycle including drawings and specifications.
  • Develop and track project budgets to ensure implementation of overall project objectives and client needs are met.
  • Create & monitor project timelines including key milestones & deliverables.
  • Maintain and track all project details in a project management system including scope, budget, schedule, status, and risk.
  • Create and monitor employee, site, and technology readiness plans for opening day and beyond. Interact with key stakeholders, regularly, to monitor risk with appropriate remediation plans.
  • Responsible for communication flow and documentation control for all relevant project materials, working with supporting staff to execute and manage.
  • Responsible for embedding and monitoring communication and change management activities to ensure a positive employee experience throughout the journey of the project right up to opening day and beyond.
  • Responsible for coordination and monitoring all aspects related to furniture, fixtures, equipment, branding, signage, cleanup and / or moves including related vendor management activities.
  • Monitor site construction and deficiency management through consultant and contractors to maintain a high level of execution.
  • Ensure all drawings and specifications are examined, prior to sign off, for design deficiencies, impractical details, and possible code violations.
  • Track project risks as a regular best practice with remediation plans to solve for any impacts to scope, schedule and budget.
  • Embed a good practice of Lessons Learned into project activities and share across project teams to increase efficiency, effectiveness and build on the experience earned by projects.
  • Close out projects in a timely manner.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5+ years' experience in leading Corporate construction projects including scope, budget, schedule and risk management.
  • BS in Engineering, Architecture or Construction preferred.
  • A Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and/or Project Management Professional designation (PMP) would be an asset.
  • LEED and/or WELL accreditation would be an asset.
  • Confident skills in problem solving, risk management, influencing & negotiation.
  • Experience in construction including costing and standard practices/techniques.
  • Experience in contract administration and good general knowledge of construction law and building codes.
  • Experience in change management and communication activities as part of a project.
  • Demonstrated ability to holistically plan and manage Real Estate projects with a lens to a positive employee experience.
  • Estimating / forecasting skills.
  • Proficiency with MS products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project).

Asset:


  • Experience with a project management tracking system.
  • Bilingualism (French/English)
